Who are we? Why do we do what we do.

The class favorite team began from four different angles, all of which shared the interest of starting a magazine. Mia and Camille, working previously together, had shared aspirations of creating their own magazine. Sam, wanting to publish and share his own writings, and interested in working with others’ writings, had been keen on the idea of working in a magazine. And Zach had had a longtime interest in starting a magazine of his own geared towards mountaineering journalism.

These shared aspirations coalesced one night after a concert. On the corner of the street with rain dumping and goodbyes imminent, Mia and Camille excitedly threw out the idea of all working on a magazine together. With mutual excitement, Sam and Zach took the offer up. Soon the four of us sat down to meet and found we all shared a similar vision - that of sharing youth art.

Besides the fact that designing a magazine is a fun, creative opportunity, why do any of this? Why youth art? Because youth art deserves to be seen. All the youth who persevere in their creative talents despite a world stacked against them. The artists who can’t help but pursue their creativity. It all deserves to be seen.

Young artists create out of a burning need to do so. It is an incessant passion that cannot be quieted. It is in this unmatched earnestness and selflessness that the utmost powerful voices and experiences are found. Art with intimate emotions and the ability to produce equally intimate connections. For us, this stands as the significance of our project. Our desire is to work with artists - to explore their work with them and get to understand them; get a look at the world
that is behind their art.

We hope that this magazine contributes to new connections being made, and new community being found.

With much love,
The Class Favourite Team
