Ali Sheikh is a Toronto based multidisciplinary artist, working with paint, pencil, sound, and the physical. There is a chance you have come across some of his work online, just as I originally did. Something about his paintings and visuals take you in with their moody palettes and personal gaze. It was these qualities that made me want to reach out and know more. Ali graciously welcomed me into his studio this fall to talk about his work, upcoming projects, creating spaces within art, toeing the line between being silly and mysterious, among many other things.
